Mission: Opened in 1984, SAFEHOME has provided services in the Kansas City area for over 30 years. SAFEHOME's services continue to expand to meet the growing needs of victims of domestic violence in our community. In addition to a 12-week shelter program for women, services also include a specialized children's program at the shelter and outreach counseling services. In 2012, 17,950 safe nights were provided to women and children fleeing violence; 4,207 calls were received through our crisis hotline. 998 clients were helped with court advocacy; and over 941 clients spent over 11,700 hours in counseling. Volunteers donated 36,548 hours in 2012. Education about domestic violence in the community and schools reached 15,781 adults and 8,242 youth in 2012. (Less)
