Mission: SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) provides children from underserved communities with life changing opportunities through the experience of summer camp. SCOPE helps fund camp scholarships “camperships” to send children who commit to staying in school to nonprofit, resident camps which will empower them to develop to their full potential.

Results: Together, we have raised more than $20 million dollars and funded over 20,000 camp scholarships since 1991.

Target demographics: Children (ages 7 - 16) enrolled in public school or public charter school who qualify for the USDA free or reduced lunch program.

Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2017, over 500 camperships were provided for children from underserved communities to experience the benefits of overnight summer camp. .

Geographic areas served: New York Tri-State area, Midwest, Southeast, and Southwest regions of the US

Programs: SCOPE provides summer camp scholarships for children from low-income families to attend 2 weeks at a nonprofit, resident camp in the New York Tri-State area, Midwest, Southeast, and Southwest regions of the US. SCOPE reinforces the connection between academic achievement and the enriched recreational and social educational experiences at summer camp. Summer camp is an essential component of the year-round educational continuum and plays a critical role in helping children from underserved communities to thrive. In 2017, SCOPE partnered with 36 different American Camp Association (ACA) Accredited camps to provide children whose families otherwise could not afford these opportunities for their children to experience the magic of overnight summer camp.
