A very simple no bells and whistles watch, rough and refined at the same time and the price is right.

Just Right.

I've had this watch (in blue) for about 9 years now. I don't wear it every day but, unlike my more expensive automatic watches, this one has never needed service. It's a beast.

A bit small to be wore on the outer wrist for me, but this watch is phenomenal! Comfortable, the looks of it is just CLASSY. Satisfied with this watch, thanks!

Nice watch. Too small for me, I gave it to my 13 year old stepson. It's probably the best first automatic watch for a kid.

I bought this watch as a gift for my boyfriend. He love it however like 2 months after I have it to him, it stopped working. I got in touch with Seiko and sent the watch to NJ. It was fixed and works perfect now.

Daily wear

A friend who has a Rollex told me a trick his watch shop told him: mechanical watches run differently according to position. My particular example runs fast on the outside of my (right) wrist, slow on the inside. At night it runs fast on it's back, slow on it's 8 o'clock edge. Knowing this, I'm able to keep it running perfectly in time with the clock on my phone, within about 3 seconds, and I haven't reset it in weeks. It took a couple of weeks to stabilize--at first it was running quite a bit slow, but I guess the works got polished up and lubed by running, and now it's quite good.Though this watch doesn't have a hack feature, you can stop it by putting a slight backwards pressure on the stem while setting that serves the same purpose. Mine hasn't run down, so I can't say how long it will run on its own. Overnight is definitely not a problem. Again, it takes a while for the mainspring to get fully wound; don't count on it running overnight for the first few days, but after that it should be fine.

It is disappointing that the luminosity of the hands etc. does not last the night. Otherwise the watch works fine.

Pros for this piece would be the font they chose gives this really good legibility, the build of the watch feels super sturdy, size is perfect in my opinion for a medium sized wrist, and the placement of the dial is a big plus as is doesn't dig into your wrist at certain angles.Cons will include the strap. The strap on this watch is pretty good if you're not paying full price. Putting the watch on for the first time you immediately feel the glue touch and scratch against your skin. A quick fix for that is a nail filer on the heavily glued parts to smooth it out or completely replace it with a blueshark nato strap. The canvas frays and wears very quickly so it's up to the wearer. A smaller detail that was more a con for me was shiney underside. The brushed Steele is great looking and the unbrushed inside feels off but again, a small detail.I highly recommend this as a first Automatic and suggest waiting for a solid deal.

Since the primary purpose of this watch is to tell time, it's rather disappointing that I have to move it forward every few days to avoid being late for everything. Otherwise, it seems well-constructed.

This Seiko 5 (SNK809) is probably the best bang-for-your-buck out there when it comes to a mechanical movement.I was initially very skeptical of purchasing a mechanical watch for such a low price. This erroneous conclusion of mine was calculated through the idea that an intricate automatic movement could, under no circumstance, be achieved without high cost.Now, there is truth to that in many ways, but it just doesn't apply for Seiko. At least, not to my particular Seiko 5.There's much to speak of regarding the watch, but I'll not the basics:- You MUST replace the strap it comes with to bring the watch to life.- Keeps reasonable time (if worn often.)- Exhibition caseback is rewarding.- Day/date is perfectly legible, but is still able to remain out of the spotlight.- It is a TRUE in-house movement. Come on!It's an automatic movement for a super attainable price. Seiko, Seiko. What a great job you've done!

Completely stopped working after only 6 months. No visible signs of damage or wear, was worn daily (continuously self-winding), but now the hands are frozen at the wrong time.
