I would recommend. yes there are work arounds with PVC couplings. But this is good too.

They are made of hard plastic without any sort of tapering so it's very easy for them to come off. The hard plastic makes them durable, but a softer material with a little give might be better. If you just want to join two hoses some duct tape might help.

Like others have commented this is a smidge to big, add some electrical tape and you have a snug fit that does not slip off at the slightest strain.A tapered fit would solve this however this would have to be done by the manufacturer.

The hoses I have are 2.5, these did not fit. They are the same OD and ID as my hoses. Seems to be of decent quality though. Im sure they will come in handy for something else.

Failed to connect my 2 1/:2 inch hosesYou have to be really careful with these dust collection connections. Zi hot one to eotk by heating eith heat gin snd hotcong on hose end

I tried both sides of all 4 of these couplings on 3 different brands of vacuum hoses, and they would not stay on any of them without tape. Put them on the end let the hose dangle they just fall off.

I used these to add 20 ft. extension hoses to my ShopVac, Craftsman and Ridgid shop vacs. Required no tape or other modification as some buyers have suggested. They are a friction fit and do not support use with the Ridgid locking hose catches but otherwise work with Ridgid fittings. Would buy again.

Although I had read that the inside diameter (ID) of these was a bit over 2.25 inches (the standard OD of a shop vac hose) I went ahead and ordered them figuring I could make do and the price for four of them was the same as the price of one. That reviewer was right. The ID of these are just a fraction larger than 2.25 inches (like maybe 2.265 inches?) hence they fit loosely on my existing hoses and a light pull on the hose disconnects the coupler. I put a piece of painter's tape on the inside which adjusted for the size differential and they are working fine for me now. However if you want something that you don't have to fuss with, bypass these couplers otherwise they are working great for me.

I needed these couplings to adapt my shop vac to some new gates, which were too large to accept my 2 1/2 hose fittings. Good snug, airtight now.
