Causes: Philanthropy, Private Independent Foundations

Mission: We exist to support children and adults with disabilities through philanthropy for Northwest Special Recreation Association.

Results: Funds raised through business partnerships, fundraising events, grants and individual donors support 5 focus areas, including:Transportation – Purchasing wheelchair accessible vehicles for attending weekly programs, special events, trips and more. Scholarships – Offers financial support for those in need, enabling them to participate in NWSRA activities. Inclusion – Enabling children and adults with disabilities to participate in their home park district. Athletics – Providing support to Lightning athletes who have the opportunity to compete in various athletic opportunities. Programs – Purchasing equipment and supplies to enhance recreational experiences.

Target demographics: Children and adults with disabilities

Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 600 individuals receive scholarships, more than 500 people receive transportation to recreational programs, over 600 athletes compete and more than 1,100 individuals receive inclusive services and adapted equipment.

Geographic areas served: Northwest Suburbs of Chicago

Programs: Fundraising towards recreational opportunities including trips, special events, weekly programs and more. These programs help children and adults with disabilities have fun, make friends, be included, go new places, learn new things and celebrate their lives.
