I have used this only once, but it worked as advertised! I have never tapped a thread before this. I used it to repair a stripped 5mm x 0.8 thread on my aluminum bike frame that was holding my (very heavy) rear rack and fender on. A few bumpy rides later and everything is still nice and snug threaded through the helicoil. I did use a dab of JB Weld inside the drilled hole to give the helicoil some extra grab...not sure if it's necessary or not, but gives me some piece of mind.

We needed to repair the hub on our Harken furler this summer (one of the original M5 Helicoil inserts had come undone) -- after getting a replacement Helicoil insert from the vendor, this insertion tool made the repair job easy.
