Causes: Domestic Violence, Family Violence Shelters, Homeless & Housing

Mission: To save lives, restore hope, and change the future for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault in southeastern connecticut.

Programs: Transitioned approximately 37 women and children, who were homeless and survivors of domestic violence, to independent living, free from domestic violence within 24 months, by providing safe, afordable housing and supportive services that develop self-esteem and self-reliance.

provided approximately 4,501 victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault emergency assistance and support, including two (2) 24-hour hotlines, crisis intervention services, general advocacy, safety planning, court-based advocacy, support groups, information and referrals, and supportive services from the main office and one satellite location.

provided approximately 211 women, children and men, fleeing a domestic violence situation, with safe, confidential, emergency shelter; food, clothing, and personal care items; crisis intervention services; case management; advocacy; and supportive services.

provided preventable education programs to 5,515 students from 19 schools and 6 community groups in new london county. Throught the use of violence is preventable and healthy relationships curricula, safe futures educators provide prevention education programs which teach youth about violence-prevention, anti-bullying, and how to have healthy relationships.
