This ladder is easy to place, release, and wind back up. It has a strap to hold and store the steps. It also folds and collapses for easy storage

We had an older fire ladder in a previous house and replaced it with this very lightweight, but sturdy deployable fire ladder. The top fits over a window sill or balcony railing. The steps deploy quickly with a Velcro pull strap. But also easy to re-stow after practice climb.

I am in a second level apartment and in case of fire or earthquake, I practice to throw it over the balcony and I know it will work perfect. I been looking for this for years!! I hope I will never have to use it, but just in case... hahaha

If you are in a second story house, you really should have one of these in each bedroom. Stay safe and be prepared. The only thing is there is no way to test it out or have the kids learn how to use it and practice. It's not meant to be used and then put back away for when you really need it. Totally get why they do it that way, someone will put it away wrong and then it will be useless in the emergency.

My 10 year old put it up on the first try with minimal direction. He is smart, but I think anyone can figure it out quickly, which is the most important aspect. Only question I have is: how do you make sure you don't drop it out the window when setting it up; the moving parts make hooking it up slightly awkward, creating this risk.

I bought this for my son's house to use at an end bedroom that is on second storyOnly way out would be the window in a fire. The ladder rolls up for storage but easily hooks over window sill to use quicklySeems sturdy for adult use
