This is the second set of these books that I've bought. The first was 6 years ago to teach my first child to read and now again with another child. If your child already has a basic understanding of letter sounds, teaching them to read these books will be a breeze!

My son who is just learning to read loves these books because he can read the whole book all by himself. He loves reading them to his little brother. They give him confidence that other books don't because he can sound out all the words and isn't reminded with every page how much further he needs to go because of all the words he can't read yet like some other books that focus on phonics.

I've use Bob books for both of my grandchildren. It helped them feel successful and confident. However, it is not a substitute to read, read, read to your children

These are OK. The text is certainly simple enough, but the 34;plots34; (if you can call them that) aren't all that engaging. My 4.5-year-old can read them, but nearly always chooses Miss Rhonda's Readers over these (which have a better plot and better pictures, but don't seem to be much more challenging).
