Why would you "NOT" sell the backing plate with it ?? Obviously it is needed. Common sense says it should be sold together as a complete kit. Even it were to be installed on a fiberglass deck, the plate would assist in the screws not tearing through over time.

The standard. Well built. A friend accidentally pulled off the top rotating part and dropped it in the Pacific ... called the main company Scotty and they sent a replacement part the same day. Excellent and friendly Canadian company that makes a quality product
