works as advertised and has another feature. I used the tool to install two drains this morning. A couple of notes. I put a small coating of wax (Johnson's Paste Wax) as lubricant in the inside of the brass tube. Old time flaring tools did that to help set a proper flair. I used 3M 5200 fast set as a sealant. Be sure and clean tools ASAP or you'll never get it off. I had to really crank on the wrench (I'm 76). You may want a breaker bar to do the last bit. As for the other feature: I had some pieces of brass tubing left over. I have another hole that could use the brass tubing. I turned one end of the flaring tool around, flat side to the brass. The other end went into the brass tube to form a flair. I tightened the nut with the bolt in a bench vise and was able to form a perfect flair on the left-over brass tubing. So I can use that in the other hole on my boat. I couldn't be more pleased with the flaring tool.

If I had written a review right after trying it the first time I would have been 1 star because I broke the bolt. I replaced the bolt with a grade 8 bolt and nut and tried again. Same impossible compression. This time I stopped and looked at what was going on. My transom is only 3/4 thick where the drain is. The pieces of this tool stack up to a hair over one inch. I bottomed out the tool before it could flare the end. If your tramsom isn't at least that thick, you won't be able to flare the end. Once I figured this out, I was able to finish the flare using half of the tool and a fender washer. No damage to the working parts of the tool except the bolt. So, measure the tube and cut it square adding about an 1/8 for the flare. The tube needs to be at least 1 3/16 long. Or get creative and use half of the tool.My wife is wrong, I don't need to go to the gym because I was able to break a 1/2 bolt with hand tools.

I was so a little intimidated to install a flared throughhull fitting. This works like a charm.

I am restoring (to restomod status) a 1967 Glastron V156 Tri-hull. It needed a new transom and floor due to past owner neglect so needless to say it needed a new drain tube installed. This tool made the installation a breeze. I highly recommend it.

Simple design that should work, didn't use it yet but it's simple comes with no instructions, it has the two ends and washers but it doesn't tell you how to put the washers in first You have a smaller brass one and a larger washer,I think the larger goes against the end.
