Mission: Our Mission is to provide nourishment and hope to the hungry in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas, while engaging and empowering the region in the fight to end hunger.

Results: Last year, Second Harvest Community Food Bank distributed 7 million pounds of food to our neighbors in need.

Target demographics: feed hungry families, children and seniors

Direct beneficiaries per year: We serve 15,000 people each month through a network of 100 nonprofits and direct services

Geographic areas served: nineteen counties in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas

Programs: Children: Backpack Buddies--take home kid-friendly weekend meals for children; Campus Cupboard--on-site food pantry in area schools; No Hunger Summer--lunchtime meals for children during the summer break; Kate's Cafe'--after school meals and activities for childrenFamilies: Fresh Start--our on site food pantry distributes nutritious food to 1,500 individuals each week; The Garden--our on site garden growing fresh produce; Close the Gap--Helping families to utilize government support through SNAP (formerly food stamp program). Seniors: Providing supplemental food boxes to seniors over the age of 60 to help meet their needsNeighborhoods: Distributing food to our 100 non-profit Partner Agencies in 15 Missouri counties and 4 Kansas counties.
