Mission: Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank's mission is to feed the hungry of Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin. Our nonprofit food bank, formerly known as the Arrowhead Food Bank, began February 15, 1984 in Gilbert, MN, as a program of the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (A.E.O.A.). We were formed to coordinate large donations of food arriving for NE Minnesota's 14 area food shelves which were assisting thousands of iron mine workers laid off during one of the most difficult economic times in our region's history. Today, we operate in Duluth, MN, as Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, and rescue nationally and regionally donated food for 180 non-profit agencies and over 44,000 people in need who reside in our service region. (Less)

Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 1987, and donations are tax-deductible.
