Causes: Cancer, Counseling, Mental Health

Mission: To improve the physical and mental health of cancer patients, to help improve the benefits of cancer treatments and outcomes and to reduce the stress cancer produces on families.

Results: SCC is the original and oldest cancer counseling in the United States. It has been the only organization for patients created by an oncologist. SCC received the Surgeon Generals Approval in 1973and was first introduced and utilized with the U. S. Air Force in the late 1960s, when Dr. Simonton was Chief of Radiation for the Western Division of the U. S. Air Force. Two books, Getting Well Again and The Healing Journey, have been written on the work itself.
