Hubby asked me to buy Good Seasons Italian salad dressing. So I did. I couldn't help but notice that the first ingredient is salt.SIMPLY ORGANIC Italian salad dressing is a healthier alternative. SIMPLY ORGANIC USES INGREDIENTS GROWN PROCESSED WITHOUT THE USE OF TOXIC PESTICIDES, irradiation or genetically engineered products. (Good Seasons cannot make that claim.)Both brands contain maltodextrin. This ingredient is high on the glycemic index (higher than table sugar) meaning it could cause a spike in blood sugar. It's safe to consume in small amounts, but diabetics should be extra careful.The SIMPLY ORGANIC Italian dressing contains: ORGANIC cane sugar, ORGANIC garlic, sea salt, ORGANIC onion, ORGANIC maltodextrin, ORGANIC chili pepper, ORGANIC black pepper, Xanthan gum, ORGANIC lemon peel, ORGANIC basil, ORGANIC oregano, ORGANIC thyme.Whisk in 2 tablespoons of white wine vinegar, 2/3 cup of olive oil 1/3 cup of water and voila - you have homemade salad dressing. For best results, let it stand (at room temperature) for 1 hour, then serve.
