Mission: The congregation of the sisters of st. Joseph became increasingly concerned for their neighbors as the hilltop neighborhood declined. Founded in 2001, dear neighbor ministries grew out of that concern. Using a combination of financial support, case management and individualized strategies, dear neighbor ministries helps hilltop individuals and families in crisis achieve greater stability and progress towards self-sufficiency.

Programs: See schedule odear neighbor ministries provides direct assistance to meet immediate and basic needs of families living in the hilltop neighborhood, such as rent, utilities, transportation, and food assistance. Additional services include representative payee and tax preparation for low to moderate income people at no cost to them. The objective for dear neighbor ministries is to walk with those in need to find resources and develop individual skills in order to provide more long term services to families who are working their way out of poverty. A 15 week getting ahead in a just getting by world class is offered twice a year to help families move out of poverty one at a time. Dear neighbor ministries has also increased focus on the work with neighborhood children: weekly activities at the lord's diner food truck which comes to hilltop daily and initiating a 4h spin club which provides new experiences that would otherwise not be available. Dear neighbor is actively involved with the neighborhood association, working to improve conditions in the hilltop neighborhood.
