One review I read was that in comparison with other sanders this one was loud. But since I usually use hearing protection and often use it connected to my shop vac, the noise has not been an issue. I've been very pleased with it!

Redoing picnic table and needed a sander to speed up the process. Great tool for the job. Paper hold downs and dust collector worked great. What was also beneficial was going with an electrical chord vs battery. Didn't want to be bothered with time constraint due to recharging.

Had this product for many many years. Excellent product. I did not know I could just buy the pad part which had broken. Wish I had known. I would not have bought a whole new one. Too late for me cause I threw it away

I handle many smaller type projects many that require sanding. I borrowed another brand and it was good, but after using this one, I find it much better and somewhat easier to use. The amount of power is much better. I will admit, I also purchased the precut sanding paper coming in a variety of sizes which fit it perfectly, and honestly, it makes the sander even easier to use. Though 'used' it looks and operates as if it were brand new. Thank you. Janine J

I am a big Porter Cable tool user. Didn't care for the hand grip on their sander. So I got this Skil, since I bought their table saw which is great. Sander does a really good job. Hand grip comfortable. Plenty of power. I was sanding outside so didn't use filter. What comes with the tool is a few pieces of pre cut sand paper, very rough grit, maybe 60 grit. So would be very hard to mount onto pad. I was using 120 and 180 grit. What I did was to take a standard size piece of sand paper, use their rough grit piece as a template, cut out my own pieces, just cut the length 1/8 inch longer for easier installation. Worked great that way. Not exactly sure what the hole puncher was for, maybe needed for the filters to be used.
