Mission: Spark Ventures builds partnerships that lift communities out of poverty and empowers future leaders. Spark Ventures directs human and financial resources to grassroots partner organizations around the world to provide nutrition, healthcare, education and jobs. By focusing our resources in areas of business, job creation and capacity building, we seek to have a lasting and sustainable impact.
Results: Spark Ventures successfully partners with grassroots organizations transforming lives for the better with expanded support by volunteers, donors and travelers. With consistent collaboration, innovation and strategic planning, programs are created, expanded and enhanced. In ZAMBIA, there is high quality education, daily meal program, health clinic, women’s empowerment, and jobs for teachers, staff and farm workers. In NICARAGUA, there is educational and social-emotional support, daily meal program, enhanced programs and women’s empowerment. In MEXICO, there is support for at-risk youth, women’s empowerment and environmental stewardship. In CHICAGO, there is educational and social-emotional support for at-risk youth and new jobs.
Target demographics: At-risk youth, women entrepreneurs, vulnerable communities
Direct beneficiaries per year: In Zambia Over 400 children at Hope Community School Over 30 Hope Community School teachers, leaders and farm workers Over 40 women in the Village Banking and Women of Worth programs In Nicaragua Over 150 children and teens at Las Tias 10 Las Tias staff members In Mexico 20 at-risk youth in the Jungle Group program 20 vulnerable women in the Women Entrepreneur group
Geographic areas served: Zambia, Nicaragua, Mexico, Chicago
Programs: Spark Ventures partners with local organizations doing humanitarian work for the most vulnerable individuals in areas of extreme poverty. With a foundation of relationships and accountability, Spark strengthens those organizations through training and leadership/organizational development, financial and volunteer resources, and strategies for economic sustainability. With regular travel to partner organizations, Spark Ventures provides personal engagement, cultural exchange and the foundation for its dedicated community of strategic donors.
