Mission: Utilizing the principles and practices of Restorative Justice, St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice works with victims, offenders and communities to respond to the effects of crime and conflict.
Results: UNDERAGE CONSUMPTION • 96% of participants reported that what they learned will help them reduce the risks associated with alcohol use. • 99% rated their speaker and volunteers as effective. | CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE & ALCOHOL • 93% report they will change some aspect of their behavior as a result of the session, with 71% reporting that they will "definitely" change. • 100% rated their speaker as effective. | VICTIM EMPATHY - For a variety of incidents, largely addressing disorderly and disruptive behavior • 97% of participants report that they will change some aspect of their behavior as a result of this session, with 87% stating they will "definitely" change. • 97% report that they believe the session will help them reduce risky behavior. | TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS - For teens and young adults • 100% report they will change some aspect of their driving behavior as a result of the session. • 97% rated their speaker as effective. | VICTIM IMPACT PANEL • 97% report that they were convinced not to drink and drive. • 95% will plan a safe ride if they choose to consume alcohol in the future. • 96% will commit to driving free of distractions. | Information is based on 2016 post-session assessments, which are completed voluntarily at our intervention sessions and anonymously summarized. Direct beneficiaries per year: 785 individuals in our intervention sessions. We additionally provide prevention services to our local high schools, including speakers at either a Mock Crash or group-dialogue session.
Geographic areas served: Pierce and St. Croix Counties in the St. Croix Valley.
Programs: group and dialogue sessions. We work in a prevention, intervention and reintegration model to address a range of public-health issues and community concerns, including impaired and distracted driving, underage drinking, alcohol and controlled substance use and abuse, disorderly conduct, theft and property crimes.
