Mission: The mission of STAR is to prevent sexual trauma and provide comprehensive, collaborative crisis intervention, advocacy, and support to victims/survivors, their families, and our communities.

Target demographics: Victims/Survivors of sexual trauma, their families and our community.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Direct Services: 246 people at SART call-outs, 287 new clients, and provided 1,935 legal advocacy and support services. STAR's Prevention and Education Team provided programs for 2,270 K-12 students and 258 adults.

Geographic areas served: Since 1978, STAR has been responding to the needs of survivors of sexual assault, while integrating prevention and education programs with a goal of reducing harm to all Alaskans. All STAR services for survivors are provided free of charge.

Programs: Crisis Hotline: The heart of STAR's Services, available 24/7 at (907) 276-7273 or (800) 478-8999.STAR's Crisis Line is answered during the day by STAR Advocates, and on evenings and weekends by volunteers who have participate in an extensive training. Direct Support Services: STAR Advocates are ready to respond to medical or law enforcement agencies 24 hours a day, and provide the following crisis support services:
• Immediate crisis support and reporting options
• Assistance with medical and law enforcement professionals in responding to reports of sexual assault and abuse
• Assistance with emergency shelter and supplies
• 1-on-1 advocacy sessions by appointment or walk-in
• Safety planning and risk reduction information
• Self-care and healthy healing information. STAR also provides trauma counseling with a mental health clinician specializing in sexual assault trauma. Education and Prevention: STAR Educators provide prevention and education programs in Anchorage School District K-12 classrooms. Educators also facilitate adult education and professional training in workplaces and at conferences, as well as host informational booths at community events, health fairs to present on various topics of power based violence.
