I bought several of these for my sister because she wanted to have functional lanterns to use for decoration and actual use during power outages and she really likes these lanterns.

I bought a set of four, to replace an actual red antique lantern that no longer seems safe to use because the lamp oil would leak. These new lanterns are fantastic! I love the classic look, and they are very well-made.

The paint on this thing is probably thicker than the metal used to make it. It's cheap so you get what you pay for.

Very difficult to monitor level when filling. Spilling is also likely to happen when pouring from a container.Solution: Carefully fill with rubbing alcohol to proper level that sticker indicates. Pour (remaining) alcohol into a suitable container. Let the lantern sit for a time to monitor for leaking. If lantern does not leak, pour alcohol back into the alcohol bottle. Mark the level for future quantity needed for refueling the lantern. This bottle is now marked for rapidly filling your lantern without trial and error.Go one step more and drill a hole in the alcohol cap. Friction fit a silicone hose. Fill the bottle to the previously marked level. Put the hose into the lantern fill opening, squeeze bottle and siphon entire contents into lantern. No muss no fuss. Elevate bottle 3” to expedite transfer. OR just use a funnel.BE SAFE AND RESEARCH DANGERS BETWEEN FUEL, CONTAINER AND HOSE.Note: Or use a see through flexible bottle and another lantern fuel compatible liquid. Slightly loosen the lid to allow air to enter bottle while siphoning. Silicon hose is usually kept at hobby stores, sold by the foot.

I purchased this to hang as a decorative piece for an accent wall in my home. It is feels very cheap and I would worry if it were safe to actually use as a lantern.

So far there's nothing that dislike about him. They're easy to use. They look great in the Palm Garden and I haven't had a problem with rusting even with this tropical weather. This is one of the best things I bought for the garden. I ended up buying four of them.

Got this solely to turn it into an LED lantern for the back deck. I used a flickering LED out of a orange jack-o-lantern light, wired it to a switch that I installed into the oil fill spout area, cut out a small rectangle underneath for a dual AA battery container, and covered that with a round electrical cover. I can't wait for summer so I can sit on my back deck and leave this out there adding just a tad bit of candle like light to the ambiance.
