I purchased two of these for an upcoming Alaskan vacation so we would have something easy to pack, easy to carry and effective against the Rainforest environment we are headed to.Well, mine passed it's first test with flying colors. Our area just went through a day of torrential downpours and a few F1 tornadoes. In sideways rain this jacket kept my torso and head nice and dry while my legs got soaked. It was about a two minute walk to my vehicle and was at times difficult to stay upright. The pockets and front zip close up tight with no water intrusion. The hood is roomy enough to comfortably accommodate a ball cap and cinches up nicely. The sleeves are nice and long. I'm 6'3 with long arms. The sleeves on my jacket (while standing relaxed) come down to about the first joint of my thumbs. That also helps keep the rain from intruding. The only downside side I could see is that it does absolutely nothing to keep the wind from stripping the heat out of the wearer. I wouldn't expect it to, but it is something that should be noted. That said, there is plenty of room to layer clothing underneath.I hope these are still available next time I'm in the market.
