Sz:M/10-12yrsIt is decent quality, nice look, but it is way too thin/skinny for an average size kid, let alone any kid a tad bit above average. Even a skinny kid will have a tough time if wearing anything other than a thin short sleeve Tshirt underneath. The arms body portion are so skinny, the sleeves are a little long, so if go up a size? Sleeves would be way too long for most.My 9 year old is average weight/height, it cannot zip closed if he is wearing anything other than a thin summer T. Long sleeve shirt beneath? No good, the arms run very small although the length is long. This is for rail thin kids.

This is a decent jacket. I'd like to see the balance shift a little more toward impermeability and durability vs weight, but for a kid that probably won't fit into it after a year or two, it's a solid choice. Seems like it breathes pretty well, and didn't get all condensed on the inside in cooler weather. It's very light, but I would trade some of that for durability.

Small fits a very tall 6 year old or a skinny 7-8 year old. Packs tight in a backpack for surprise downpours.

It's great piece for layering and protection from rain however keep in mind this is not meant to be warm so you do need warm clothes underneath like a sweater or long sleeves. It will keep cold air out and most importantly the Rain also. At first I didn't think it was what my son needed. I ordered a Eddie Bauer with lining and another Columbia this time the Rainy trails with fleece lining and after trying it on for a few minutes my 4 year old was sweaty . I thought it'd be great to keep over just a short sleeve shirt but since it was the same color very similar I decided I'd keep Eddie Bauer for cold non rainy weather and the watertight as my preferred choice for rainy weather for my son who gets too warm too easily.

I bought this raincoat in a size large for a skinny 12 year old and the size is good / long enough. I would size up if your child is not as skinny. We have to see how waterproof it is but it looks promising and thin enough to wear during warmer weather (you will need to add layers if you are planning to wear below F 50) .

Good option for a hoodie to throw in your bag for the chillier days and during a hike. It's a little loose fit. Dose not pack into its own pocket. But you can roll it into the hoodie. Only tested in a drizzle. But looks ok for light rain.

My child is 6 y/o and I bought the small (size 8). It is a little big but should last this year.

The jacket fits my son as expected and has held up pretty well so far.
