While this item did fit, it had zero warmth for a liner. Was expecting it to be a water resistant jacket since it had this name brand but it didn't.

I'm athletic tailored-42 with 34-waist, Large is usually only slightly-baggy and a Medium is too-tight. I own other Columbia jackets. This one fits GOOFY, like it's made for a TALL. Bottom of jacket is way too long (mid-to-low thigh). Hood of jacket is too far from shoulders (the bill covers my face), and even the shoulders are a tad too wide. Plus the waist drawstring is on one-side (right) only, so it doesn't draw-in equally like my other Columbia. I look like a bigger moron than usual in this jacket.

I have bought several of these jackets over the years and they work well in keeping you dry. The water repellency will wear off in 3 or 4 years, depending on usage, which is OK in my opinion. You will sweat some if you wear it an hour or longer in very warm weather. Wear characteristics are good overall.

Jacket is nice and light. Feels like good quality. No reason to think it won't be water repellant. Only complaint is that it runs very big. I'm typically borderline L/XL. I ordered the L and it's huge. Hangs lower than I'd like it, sleeves are too long, and too much room in the midsection. Ideal size would have probably been a M. Other than the loose fit though, feels like a solid choice.

This jacket is a decent choice for daily use, such as commuting to work/school etc. It would also be a good choice for more laid back camping/outdoor activities. Its light and packs down well. It is waterproof and has kept me dry in some pretty heavy downpours. And while technically the material is breathable, it is very limited and will definitely build up condensation on the inside quickly if exerting yourself. The wicking effect just takes too long on this level of material. You need to spend at least 4 times as much money to get a truly breathable jacket, able to stand up to more rigorous outdoor activities.On a side note. I've read a few comments about these jackets possibly being knock offs, based on the logo not being a sewn on design, and some other cosmetic differences. I have a couple of older Columbia jackets that also have the swn on logos etc. If you go to Columbia's official website (which is what I did after reading comments about possible fake jackets) the images for this jacket (and many others) clearly show that the logo etc are some kind of printed on design. Not the sewn on kind. My guess is they switched to printed designs at some point, and some of the older stuff with the sewn designs is still in circulation along with the newer designs.
