This is just a thin cloth jacket, but I am giving it full stars because it looks so good on my son. It is soft and perfect for wearing indoors when the house is cold. (He layers it under a thick outer jacket for going outdoors.) My son is 5'10 and very slender, and the medium size fit perfectly, accenting broad shoulders and a narrow waist. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought 2 of them in different colorways. He wears them out and about, or even around the house, something akin to a sweater. They seem to be true to size, as well. Very nice for the price!

I bought a Patagonia version as I have 40 year's experience with them, not good after a few washings, collar goes funny and hangs puckered. REI's is too thin and has the same puckered quality that makes it hang sloppily. Columbia quality is tops. Hangs neatly, fabric is heavier, more plush, zipper is YKK. After washing, the fabric retains its shape and doesn't contract in ugly ways. My wife has had a black one for work that she wears every day. She works frozen food. After years of weekly washing it is still plush and retains its shape, no pilling like the Patagonia, and thicker than the REl for much less. That's good enough for me. Complements my classic North Face jacket for Fall through Spring in Northern California!

The fleece seems made of a very thin pile fleece. It feels more like felt. The color ordered was black, It's more of a charcoal gray/bluey color. Not sure how warm this will be in the elements. It fits true to size as I ordered a large/tall.

Originally wanted to buy a replacement for a jacket that was supposedly identical, but said jacket was old and extremely worn out, to the point where I'd been using it as a summer jacket. Wanted something that would have served the same purpose, so I ordered the same jacket.Won't have cause to actually use the jacket for a few months, but it's comfortable and warm enough for autumn, or even a warmer winter day.
