Unit operates smoothly and quiety, both using electric and hand crank. It has a toggle switch for lowering or raising, another toggle switch for side LED light. Slightly overextended the unit beyond the taped warning, as I was parked on an uneven surface. The unit reached the end, and then just stopped working. However, i was able to override the electric with the hand crank, and cranked it back up to the safe zone of the unit. Turned out that it blew the 30 AMP fuse and no damage was incurred to the actual electric portion of the unit. When I installed the lift, I did not like the old cylinder glass type fuse, so I used a properly gauged outdoor sealed 30 amp blade type fuse instead. Replacing the fuse and I was back in business. I did locate some safety tape and replaced the damaged overextending tape to make it more noticeable. Be cautious, as the manual states you can possibly do damage by overextending beyond the safe zone of this device. Overextending is when you lower the hitch end too much to accommodate a site where the back of the trailer is lower than the front. Also, during installation, I added a chain to the top of the bubble level, hand crank knob so that if it should come loose, I won't lose it. I used a fishing line swivel connector for part of this chain. This knob costs about $25 for replacement.
