I had purchased two different types of digital stud finders to try to find studs in our newly purchased home, which is OLD and has plaster and lath walls, those two stud finders were all over the place and very inaccurate with my walls. I looked up other options, watched videos about other methods, etc etc. One simple method suggested was using magnets. I found this Rack-A-Tiers studball and ordered it.It arrived an hour ago, and I've been finding nails/screws, and therefore, studs, behind the thick plaster and lath walls! All over the place! Studs were confirmed by moving the magnet vertically after finding a hit and finding other hits on the same vertical line and marking them... the vertical markings could not be any more clear in indicating a stud, and the spacings of the studs are just about 16 inches apart, confirmed with more vertical lines with multiple hits, marking it all out, it's beautiful. What a simple solution, the most straightforward one. My only gripe is I thought I was getting a pack of those things for some reason, it only comes as a single. Okay, I only really need one anyway. The magnet is just the right strength, it's not TOO strong, and it's definitely not too weak. I am very pleased and now can move forward with our plans!Got plaster and lath walls and need to find studs? Look no further!
