I tried cheaping out and buying neodymium wall magnets, and those couldn't reliably stick through mud and corner bead. This is a game changer! The sphere accurately and reliably found each screw. It's pricey but worth it.

I had to remove the drywall in a room. This worked great for finding the nails in gypsum drywall, that are hidden behind the outer drywall finish.It also is good for accurately locating studs behind drywall, for such things as installing new electrical fixtures, or finding places to securely nail if you are attaching something to a drywall. Works better and more accurate than an electronic stud detector.

Drywall: Best stud finder I have ever used. Find studs easily.Lath Plaster: Able to find studs, but (presumably depending on plaster thickness) much more difficult to find screws (i.e. - stud locations).

My house has textured drywall (1/2 and 5/8 thick) and the magnet sticks well to it very well. I use the magnet to find drywall screws, metal plates (protecting electrical wiring) and metal strapping on framing members. Painters tape is placed on the screws and plates found. Now I can avoid the hidden screws and plates when installing rows of shelf brackets or hanging cabinets.I don't use the magnet to locate framing members. Instead I use Franklin stud finder M210. Using two different tools lets you avoid the frustrations with the magnet expressed in many reviews.Happy stud finding on your next project.

Much less frustrating than the electric ones. Find metal studs in a snap and find the screws in wooden ones in 2 snaps.
