I put one of these bulbs in a desk lamp for reading in bed. I've heard orange light won't affect sleepiness, and the effect was even greater than expected! After opening the book and adjusting the light properly, I didn't read a paragraph before my eyelids got heavy. I could only finish a page before drifting off to sleep!I think the brightness is a bit too much for my use. I have bare white walls behind and beside my bed, so shining the lamp toward the walls softened and dimmed the light enough for comfort... but somehow the brightness is still enough to see sharp detail on the other side of the room.As for the color, it is so purely orange that everything green and blue (probably purple, but I don't have many purple things in my room) in the room appears black or very dark, but I can see other colors just fine... the white, wood, yellow, red, tan, and of course orange show up just fine!
