I bought this bulb to replace another except to use less electricity, be a bit brighter, and not require disassembly of the fixture to remove the ballast. It does check those boxes but is a bit longer than the bulb it replaced. I had to bend the inside of the fixture to allow the new bulb to fit. I guess all's well that ends well, but it would have been better if the bulb was the same size as the original one.

Way brighter than the standard cfls they replace. Works with units with ballast.

I've had to replace plenty of halogen bulbs for this particular use, here's to hoping it will last longer than they did.Additionally, since this is a directional light:On someone else's suggestion, I put the bulb facing the wall: It acts as a good diffuser.Easy fix so I don't have the LEDs shining in my face.

Very good color and very bright. LEDs are only on one side, so I'd say about 230 degrees of light coverage.

I couldn't easily take my fixture down/apart to ID the ballast so I just bought 1 to try it. I got lucky, it lit right up without sound or flickering. My fixture is meant for 13W CFL, This is much brighter, even though it is only 9W.First pic is this bulb on left, with 13W CFL on right side of garage.Looking at it directly, even through the diffuser of the fixture is painful. That's the first closeup with the hotspot in the middle. The quick fix is to turn it around to light the inside of the fixture. (2nd closeup) Finally I lined the back of the fixure with glossy white paper. Now the fixture is more uniformly bright without the painful hot spot.I'm happy and will buy a 2nd one for the other side.Color temp is a bit cooler than the old-warm white CFL, but still white. Think hallogen bulb vs old school incandescent.

The bulb failed a half second after I turned it on. I guess it's not compatible with my ballast.

The fluorescent bulb in our range hood died. This led cost about twice as much, but wow, is it bright! And much cooler running. It also works with the ballast so there's no rewiring needed. Good product! Hopefully lasts longer than the fluorescents.

Frankly, i found it impossible to verify if this would work with any of the ballast compatibility information Sunlite had linked to. So I went ahead and just ried it.IT IS WAY BETTER, and much BRIGHTER than the CFL. I big improvement.

Replaced an aging cfl with ballast that took minutes to warm up and got very hot. Less than half the power and brighter instant white light. Great buy.

I looked for a long time for an easy way to upgrade from recessed CFL lights to LED and am glad to have found these Sunlite bulbs. These literally are plug and play! No need to do any bypass or rewiring of your existing CFL can lights. Just pop the old/burned out CFL bulbs and replace with these Sunlite bulbs. These particular bulbs are rotatable so you can adjust the light to focus where you want it. They are instantly bright as soon as you flip the switch and are way brighter than the old CFLs. They are a little longer than the cans in my house but it doesn't bother me at all. The bright light, the savings and never having to deal with those terrible g24q CFL bulbs is absolutely wonderful!

This LED bulb is a 1-to-1 perfect swap for a CFL G24q-3. Its power needs are much lower (1/3 the CFL's needs), it runs cooler, and it is very bright. This light feels twice as bright as the CFL it replaces. This is probably due both to the spectrum (LED is bluer) and actual total output. This replaced a range hood lightbulb in our kitchen.

Installation was easy - the lamp doesn't have the notches to get into the socket completely, I have gx24q-3, but inserts enough to stay in place. Considering I didn't have to do modification to bypass the ballast needed for CFL or to buy a new light fixture, the price was worth it.

Not as advertised. These are marketed as direct replacement for CFL bulbs but they will not work with the ballast still wired in.
