Mission: At Thunder Mountain Farms Equine Rescue it is our mission to provide shelter, care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for abandoned, abused, neglected, slaughter-bound, or unwanted horses while also providing life enriching experiences for youth and adults through education, mentor-ship, networking and collaborations.

Results: Since our inception, Thunder Mountain Farms Equine Rescue has helped support & rescue over a 1000 horses! Our foremost goal is to save horses, help rehabilitate & place them into loving homes. We’re passionate about providing a natural & focused care plan for each of our resident equines. On average it cost $2000 to rehabilitate & re-home a horse. We average 10- 30 equine residents at the farm. Our team is known to travel through the night to transport an abandoned horse, sometimes from across the state; some are orphaned foals as their wild herds are exported to slaughter. Our rescue is the last hope for these magnificent animals. Rehabilitation takes time, then the adoption process can begin. Resocialization is more effective with human interaction- it takes a village of people to save a horse. It wouldn’t be possible without a competent team of compassionate volunteers. Horses began as our primary mission, but we soon realized the value in sharing our resources with people, a gift we can offer to the community. We’re committed to educating, collaborating with the greater community, & networking to reduce abuse, slaughter & abandonment of equines. We also have found ourselves uniquely positioned to mentor people, young & old, on a working farm with plenty of outdoor space. People come to the farm to connect with animals, learn new skills, & build relationships. As Winston Churchill said, “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man. ”
