Mission: To encourage and celebrate the potential of people who experience disabilities.

Target demographics: individuals and families who experience developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 350 individuals and families

Geographic areas served: The Municipality of Anchorage

Programs: Individuals who receive services from The Arc, range from birth to old age and are of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, with a large majority of whom have little to no income. Approximately 70% of the individuals enrolled at The Arc qualify for Medicaid and use the benefit to receive services and enroll in our programs, with The Arc relying on donations from the community and grants to fund the remainder of program/service costs. The following are the core programs and services currently offered through The Arc:Community Living Services – support with housing options in the Anchorage are; Supported Employment Services - job training and placement with local employers; Nursing Services – quality health care for medically fragile children across Alaska; The Arc Clubhouse –after-school program for ages 12-16; Recreation Services – provides older individuals with a variety of community activities that encourages development of new skills and social engagement; Sparc: a creative place – art studio and gallery that provides art classes and an opportunity for artists who experience disabilities to have a career in art; Behavioral Health Services – Serves individuals with a mental illness or severe emotional disturbance (SED) in combination with a developmental disability.
