Mission: The Bowery Mission is a Christian organization that has served New Yorkers experiencing homelessness and hunger since the 1870s. At its downtown campuses, the Mission is committed to showing radical hospitality to anyone in immediate need of food, shelter, or clothing. At its uptown campuses, the Mission's Residential Programs provide a safe environment to heal from past trauma, renew faith, overcome barriers to independence, and achieve personal goals for life and work. The Mission's Children's Programs, Mont Lawn Camp and City Camp, provide year-round mentoring and enrichment opportunities for youth in East Harlem and the South Bronx. Our purpose is to see lives transformed - delivering renewal and healing through the power of Jesus Christ. Last year, the Mission served 255,000 meals, 54,000 nights of shelter, and 20,000 articles of clothing. Additionally, the Mission served 266 adults in its Residential Programs and 188 children and youth through its year-round programs. (Less)
