Mission: Our mission is to provide children and families the opportunity to explore, discover and learn, through play, about the natural world, the arts and sciences, and the diversity of maine's mid-coast.

Programs: The coastal children's museum's mission ". . . To discover, explore and learn through play. . . " was supported b our continued growth. This year, over 8,700 visitors walked through our doors. Our newest interactive exhibit, the butterfly garden, was frequented by our many visitors. They participated in scavenger hunts, art activities, played musical instruments and tic-tac-tow. They also enjoyed an outdoor setting to eat lunch or snacks. We expanded our community outreach by having a collaborative science program with the project puffin, an audubon affiliated program in rockland, maine. We also participated in rockland's summer solstice celebration. We collaborated with the good tern co-op creating a community "pizza" garden and celebrated the harvest with an end of season pizza party using our vegetables. Our mobile touch tank brought lobster and ocean critters to the patten library in bath, me and the rockland library in rockland, me as outreach educational programs. We hosted over 100 workshops. New this year is family paint night, a parent/child program the first friday of every month. Our new and renewed memberships grew to 156.We helped celebrate 30 birthday parties. In the spirit of the holidays and in honor of community serivce we participate annually in the aio food pantry back pack program. We present two free admission passes, along with a healthy snack, to each child. This year we gave over 540 passes to the program. In addition to the back pack program, we collect food and goods for the aio food pantry. Our spring childrens fair, sponsored by the rockland kiwanis club, helps us offer a free admission morning at the museum, 143 people attended. In honor of the museum's june anniversary, we offer a $1.00 admission day and have special activities. These and other special admission days help us reach and be accessible to an important portion of our community. A special grant was awarded to us to upgrade our computers and software program. The maine community foundation gave us $3,000 to do this.
