Mission: The Humane Society of McCormick County is a no-kill animal rescue. We pick up homeless cats and dogs in McCormick County and help them find loving homes. We offer low-cost spay and neuter to any cat or dog in the County and we a have a progressive trap - neuter or spay -and release (TNR) program and we monitor and feed several community cat colonies every day. We are 100% funded by private donations, grants and money raised through fundraising activities. All money raised goes to helping animals because we are all volunteers. The county does not have a city or county-run shelter and it does not have any veterinarians. We care for the dogs and cats that would otherwise have no other place to go.
Target demographics: animals
Direct beneficiaries per year: We spay/neutered a total of 297 dogs and cats in 2021! (136 McCormick County owned dogs and cats free of charge to those who qualified for it, 83 HSMC rescues, and 78 trap-neuter/spay-release cats. )
Geographic areas served: McCormick County, South Carolina
Programs: "#DoTheMath" - our free to low cost Spay/Neuter program. Since we do not have a clinic of our own, we fill up our van with cats and dogs from county residents and travel to a clinic in the next county. We do this two to three times a month. Having animals spayed/neutered is the only way we are going to get handle on the animal population. Our program is helping this entire county from the residents to the animals.
