Causes: Homeless & Housing, Homeless Shelters, Hospices, Human Services
Mission: The INN Between is ending the tragic history of people dying on the streets of our community, by providing end-of-life care and medical respite for people experiencing homelessness. We provide medically appropriate housing to enable adults experiencing homelessness to gain access to professional hospice or home health care from State-licensed agencies. We help terminally ill people pass away housed, not homeless or alone on the streets. We enable people who need to undergo life-saving medical treatment —such as stabilizing in preparation for surgery, recuperating from serious illness, or starting cancer treatment— to have safe, medically appropriate housing and their best chance at healing. Results: Since opening in 2015, The INN Between has helped over 93 terminally ill homeless men and women experience end of life with dignity, and with access to professional hospice care, basic needs, and social, emotional and spiritual support. We have also helped hundreds recuperate from serious medical conditions in safe housing instead of in a campsite or on the street.
