Causes: Children & Youth

Mission: The Mentoring Partnership advances mentoring in Western PA to ignite community involvement, strengthen programs and empower all youth to succeed in life.

Results: TMP has a proven, 27-year track record of increasing quality mentoring in Western Pennsylvania. We successfully connect new and existing mentoring programs as a network that is grounded in quality, representative of a broad spectrum of youth activities and engaged with other key youth serving partners. We annually work with hundreds of programs, who are intentional about incorporating a mentoring mindset in their interaction and services to 21,000+ kids each year. We deliver trainings for programs and volunteers and ensure that mentoring opportunities are tailored to the needs and circumstances of young people.

Target demographics: all young people, under age 18 in the communities of Western Pennsylvania

Direct beneficiaries per year: staff and volunteers from 150+ programs; 1900 mentors who received training and the 20,000+ youth (mentees) who are being mentored

Geographic areas served: Western PA

Programs: We deliver five core services:- Program Development for new mentoring programs- Technical Assistance for existing programs- Mentor Recruitment - raising awareness of the need for mentors and the many different opportunities to be a mentor locally- Mentor Training - helping new mentors understand their role, with emphasis on communication skills, working with youth, goal setting and where to turn for help- Education and Networking for staff and volunteers of local programs; providing opportunities to share and learn together
