Just another opinion based on experience:I have used this product with very "instant" and appreciable results for debilitating back/hip/leg/ankle pain due to L4-L5 and L5-S1 disk problems. Driving is now tolerable, and even pain free much of the time.I keep my McKenzie lumbar rolls strapped to my car seat, and others in several chairs I use frequently. For best results, I use it higher up on my back than I would have thought. Instead of in the small of my back, I place it just under the bottom edge of my shoulder blades - about mid-back. This location seems to create just the right amount of curve to relieve most of the pain.Certainly, you can find other things to use such as rolled up materials of many types, but this lumbar pad is no muss, no fuss, and has helped me a lot. Like these pads, towels compress, but into a much harder "pad" that irritates more than helps in my experience, and are a pain to deal with. These lumbar pads spring back into shape after you stop using them, or can easily be "fluffed up" like a pillow if needed. My only complaint is with the strap. It can get tangled up and be a problem, but that is the nature of straps.I have purchased 3 of these, and am using them to get noticeable pain relief. Of course, nothing will absolutely solve the problem, including epidurals (I have had two and they have helped me tremendously but not fully solved the problem) and surgery which I may try in the future. But I find these rolls to be worth the money.
