Mission: PRASAD helps people to achieve lives of self-reliance and dignity by offering programs of health, education and sustainable community development in India, dental care in the United States and eye care in Mexico. The goal of each PRASAD initiative is to help people to help themselves, their community and the environment.

Results: PRASAD assists communities around the world through a wide range of programs in health, education, sustainable development and disaster relief. Today, PRASAD is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, with branches in six countries on four continents. Since PRASAD began its work in the 1960s by providing aid to a handful of tribal villages in the remote Tansa Valley in India, we have had a tremendous impact on the lives of millions of people through programs such as:The mobile hospital has provided medical services to over 1 million people living in rural India; PRASAD Chikitsa’s eye care and surgery programs have benefited more than 200,000 people in India; The rate of HIV positivity in the Tansa Valley is lower than the Indian national level; PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program has provided dental health education classes or dental services to more than 76,000 children in the US;and PRASAD de México has surgically restored the vision of nearly 30,000 adults and children.

Target demographics: Residents of the Tansa Valley, India; Underserved children in New York State; Low income people suffering from strabismus or cataracts in Mexico.

Geographic areas served: The Tansa Valley in India; Mexico; Sullivan County in New York.

Programs: The PRASAD Project has licensees who provide services in India, the USA and Mexico. PRASAD Chikitsa operates health, education, disaster relief and sustainable community development programs in India. PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program provides dental care for children in the United States, and PRASAD de Mexico organizes free eye surgery camps in Mexico. PRASAD also has national licensees in Australia, France and Spain who raise funds to support the India programs.
