Mission: The mission of The Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) is to end hunger in our community. We define ending hunger as having in place a community response system that makes adequate nutrition assistance available and accessible to anyone in need.

Established in 1987, the REFB is the largest distribution hub and major provider of emergency food serving north coastal California - from Sonoma County to the Oregon border. Offering over 200 monthly and weekly direct service distributions in Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino counties, the REFB also acquires and distributes food through a network of 170 charitable agencies that rely on the REFB to supply the food that fuels hunger-relief and human services programs spanning five counties, including Humboldt and Del Norte. In addition, the REFB advocates for effective legislation that will provide long-term solutions to hunger in our community. During fiscal year 2017-2018, over 17.5 million pounds of food was distributed to feed 82,000 people in need.

The Redwood Empire Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 1991, and donations are tax-deductible.
