Mission: Providing help with shelter, housing, food and basic needs with a hand up. not a hand out in the Divine Mercy of Christ for Des Moines County, Iowa!

Results: Since inception, Transitions has helped 600 plus households, with assistance consisting of emergency housing, rent, utilities, furniture, food, clothing, household items, bus passes, and gas cards. The office at 515 S Main, is staffed Monday through Friday for from 10:30 AM to 3:00 pm, and during that time frame Transitions assists 10-15 households daily. Our board of directors consists of 8 members with four seats filled at this time. Our mission is to provide a hand up, not a handout. The DMC stands for the Divine Mercy of Christ. This year alone, Transitions has provided 300 beds to families in need. Since inception, we have given out over $450,000 worth of basic furniture, provided 112 nights in hotel rooms, and assisted 20 unwed mothers under the age of 18.We are currently counseling four clients for job searches, and as of today, we have 15 formerly homeless people living in temporary Transitions’ owned houses. Those two houses currently serve as the Transitions DMC’s transitional housing until the permanent shelter is complete.
