Target demographics: Working with hundreds of business, non-profit, government, education, health care and faith-based partners, Trident United Way invests in programs and initiatives that measurably improve people's lives.

Direct beneficiaries per year: United, our philanthropic efforts support our shared goals. In 2018-2019 we empowered more than 178,000 people to grow with greater stability and independence.

Geographic areas served: Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties of South Carolina

Programs: Tri-County Reading by Third Project:A three-year pilot partnership between Trident United Way and all four local school districts in the Tri-County area. TUW has committed up to $1.5 Million to bring innovative teacher training to pilot classrooms in pre-kindergarten through second grade. The goal is to raise childhood literacy rates and have more children reading on grade level by the end of third grade. AmeriCorps:Trident United Way AmeriCorps members serve local sites where they work with families across the financial stability spectrum of need. By acting as Family Navigators, they seek to address the current economic hardships of the Tri-County area by leveraging the unique strengths of Trident United Way and its community partners to make a difference in the lives of people. AmeriCorps members build capacity for the host site organization to be able to provide financial stability services to its clients through collaboration, leveraging resources and getting measurable results. Resource Connection Centers:The Resource Connection Centers empower people to reach financial stability by meeting basic needs, increasing income and gaining and sustaining assets. The Resource Connection Centers bring together more than 10 nonprofit service providers that help individuals and families in Berkeley and Dorchester counties increase their financial stability. ACCESS TO RESOURCES | EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE | BUILDING SKILLS | TECHNOLOGY ACCESS | REFERRAL SERVICESHealthy Tri-County:MUSC Health, Roper St. Francis Healthcare and Trident United Way launched Healthy Tri-County, a multi-sector regional initiative to improve health outcomes in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. The long term goal of this initiative is to improve the health and well being of every person and community within the Tri-County area. CharityTracker:CharityTracker is a web application that Trident United Way provides free of charge to the Tri-County region for shared case management. This tool allows funded partners, community agencies and faith-based organizations to track and share client service information. The tool provides accountability for those being served as well as agencies working collectively to move individuals into financial stability. Trident United Way provides training for this web application and support for qualified agencies and volunteers.
