I bought this to use along with a wedge for splitting really stubborn logs from a very large maple tree, which even the best maul or combination of wedges and smaller hammers would't work. I cut a short and somewhat shallow holding slot within the top of a log using the tip of the chainsaw, place the wedge in that slot which holds it upright, then a few blows with this hammer nearly always results in a split. I've used True Temper tools for over 50 years, so was really glad to find this hammer made by the same company!
