This lantern is a little ugly, but a lot useful! It can charge by USB or by solar. We were out of power for three days due to the recent wind storm. This was our 34;go to34; lantern when the sun went down. On the high setting, it is bright enough to illuminate a good sized family room to a generally usable level. If you are in a corner with the light, it is good and bright enough to easily read by. Out of the box, it was charged enough for 3 hours on the high setting. The button to change settings is a bit stiff, but works well. The recharge time on the solar charge says 15-20 hours, but a good 12 hours seemed to do the trick. You can't stand it up as shown in the picture as there is a 34;nub34; on the top of the silicone dome. but if you're using it in a home environment and not hanging it, it's sitting on the flat bottom solar panel anyway. This is a great product. I'm back here buying another!

Use this aboard my 24' sailboat. Leave it on deck during the day, and use it as a night light at night. Love the low setting in flicker mode, like a candle. But can be switched to high or second setting for useable cabin ilumination. Free light! In a practicle, user friendly, atractive device! Now make it in O.D. green.
