Mission: Unbridled Thoroughbred Foundation protects horses from exploitation and slaughter. Through advocacy, care, and education, Unbridled aims to amass appreciation for the inherent worth of Thoroughbreds. Through active learning, we foster recognition of the agency, autonomy, individuality, intelligence, and emotional depth unique to each horse to expand understanding of who horses are and how they experience their lives. In all that we do, it is our purpose to embolden a new ethical perspective to deepen the horse-human bond, and to inspire kindness towards Thoroughbreds as friends who are valued as fellow sentient beings.

Results: Since 2004, Unbridled has saved the lives of hundreds of Thoroughbreds who otherwise would have been slaughtered. We rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome rescued Thoroughbreds through adoption, and sustain a teaching herd of senior Thoroughbreds in Sanctuary. Our advocacy, media campaigns, and educational programs have raised awareness of the exploitation of Thoroughbreds, inspired community action, and resulted in new industry measures and legislative initiatives to protect Thoroughbreds. Our literacy programs have served hundreds of community members and earned an official partnership with the NYS Libraries Summer Reading Program. Our work is recognized in Proclamations from NYS Legislators, and in primetime features on TV:o Spectrum News link to view: https://bit. ly/SpectrumStoryAug2021o ABC/WTEN link to view: https://bit. ly/UnbridledPetConnection2021Our commitment to fiscal transparency has earned the Candid Platinum Seal, and our excellence in equine care is recognized by the Equus Guardian Seal, and Accreditation from the American Sanctuary Association and Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.
