Mission: United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona's mission is to build a thriving community by uniting people, ideas and resources. A community where every child receives a high-quality education from cradle to career, every adult has the opportunity to thrive financially and in the workplace, and every older person can retire and age with dignity and independence.

Results: In 2022, United Way of Tucson is celebrating its 100 year anniversary. With that in mind, our mantra has been building on last year's success. United Way’s Collective Impact Fund supports more than 233,000 residents of Tucson and Southern Arizona from birth to end of life each year. United Way is focused on generational success and supporting local residents through the entire lifecycle. In 2021, United Way of Tucson Programs saw many successes including;Education:1) 174,757 books were given to children to build their personal libraries. 2) 999 families received guidance for raising and nurturing their child at home. 3) 1,047 opportunity youth were connected back to education and career pathways through the re-engagement center. Financial Wellness:1) $22 million in federal refunds returned. 2) 13,030 low income working families in Arizona who received free tax preparation. 3) 94 homeless veterans provided with support and resources. Healthy Communities:1) 3,103 active senior volunteers engaged. 2) 2,236 older adults received tools to plan for end of life care. 3) 15,175 seniors were helped to remain at home with supportive services.

United Way convenes people and organizations to find innovative solutions that positively impact more than 233,000 lives in Southern Arizona a year. We do this by improving educational and life outcomes for children, youth and young adults by advancing equity and excellence in education; improving employment and financial security outcomes of adults for life-long well-being; and by improving the quality of living and dying for older people. United Way programs and partners provide a broad spectrum of improving the community including the Cradle to Career Program, the Family Support Alliance, Read on Tucson, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), Siemer Family Stability Program, The ELDER Alliance, and Arizona End of Life Care Partnership and our annual Days of Caring Event.
