Mission: We believe Equity and Ubuntu will exist when quality educational opportunities are accessible to all. Only then will we find and value our uniqueness, unleash our potential, be accountable for our future, stand confident and resilient in the face of injustice, and respect that everyone has the right to do the same. Accordingly, our mission is to provide individuals and institutions in underserved regions with the academic resources needed to ensure educational and career opportunities that will promote just, civil, and hopeful societies. In short, we fund education, only education, to achieve and sustain equity all while guided by the values of inclusivity, accountability, and sustainability. Why? We believe education is the single greatest force to interrupt and reverse the abhorrent cycles of poverty and subordination.
Results: In our first 10 years, we have uplifted four different schools and helped improve the quality of education for 10,000 children. A sampling of our accomplishments follows:the Universal Promise Academic Centretwo computer laboratories, computer-training, a library, a science lab, an arts studio, a dance & music studio, a wellness studio, two playgrounds, two green, clean water systems, 30 renovated classrooms, classroom electricity, leadership camps, professional development, a medical clinic renovation, healthcare education, three school kitchen renovations, multiple school toilet renovations, women’s empowerment programs, myriad Xhosa entrepreneurial businesses, a wind turbine, security systems at all schools, university visitations and applications, and then some.
