Mission: Cap utah leads, strengthens, and supports the community action network in order to build thriving communities and end poverty.

Programs: Vita/eitc-led the statewide earn it. Keep it. Save it. Coalition in preparing 18,897 tax returns, resulting in over $26 million in total tax refunds and credits (including over $9.6 million in earned income tax credit). -provided sub-grants to member agencies to support local earn it. Keep it. Save it. Coalitions. -provided capacity building support and training around the volunteer income tax assistance (vita) program and the earned income tax credit (eitc). -coordinated the locations of vita sites across the state, over 90 sites in total. -implemented new programs to extend vita services to more eligible utahns, these programs are virtual vita and roving vita. -held monthly statewide meetings to share best practices and national trends. -identified and recruited vita volunteers across the state. -undertook outreach regarding the eitc to eitc eligible populations. -conducted vita volunteer and software trainings. -introduced a financial education component to vita sites, encouraging clients to connect with financial resources.

poverty & community outreach-facilitated democracy day at utah's state capital to educate the community on government involvement. -published the annual report on poverty in utah. -published the community actin network annual report-collaborated with local advocates to protect and increase funding for low-income programs. -hosted numerous poverty simulations across the state to educate stakeholders, frompolicy makers to local community leaders, about the day-to-day realities of life with a shortage of money and an abundance of stress. -disseminated information about poverty in utah and community action agency programsand services. -expanded and formalized the family investment coalition. -attended national conferences (ncaf, caplaw, nascsp, national cap, region v111, state association directors, cfed) to stay up to date on best practices and national trends. -produced various public policy fact sheets on housing, work supports, asset building and general poverty issues. -increased online presence by establishing social media campaign.

training & technical assistance-provided rseults orientated management and accountability (roma) training to member agencies. -provided individual agency training on 3-year needs assesment activities and planning. -hosted annual poverty conference, over 250 partipcants with over 40 training topics covered. -hosted annual awards ceremeony recoginzing achievements in community action across the state. -provided one on one support to agencies in hiring, training and developing new and existing staff. -provided support to agencies in completing and filing annual information survey (is) reports in conjunction with state community service office (scso).
