My previous check valve failed and when trying to clean my black tank, water would spew out the valve instead of going where it needed. I was told I could do without the valve but, in reality, trying to put something together was not a solution the connection (plastic to metal) leaked in spite of plumber's tape. So, I bought this. It works as it should. I'm a happy camper.

I had a bad drip into the basement of my Allegro Bus when flushing the black tank. Traced leak to this check valve as the water was running dowm the hose connected to it. Assumed it was a bad valve. Replace it with this new one and still had a rather significant leak before I tie-wrapped it back into place as vertical as I could. There is no rigid mount for this in the coach. It is tie-wrapped to the sink drain line in my half bath so is hard to get it to remain in a level position. I'm think the floating valve in the fixture does not seal properly unless the valve is straight up and down. Therefore, I would suggest checking the orientation of the valve before assuming you need a new one; particularly if thete is no rigid mount or bracket for it.

This is basically an OEM product. You have to replace them every couple of years because they fracture.

I bought another brand to replace my valve when it went bad. You definitely get what you pay for. the cheaper model leaked worse than my defective valve. The Valterra was a direct fit and worked perfectly the first time. I did add Teflon tape to the threads before tightening it up. As a bonus, this valve is clear and you can do a quick visual inspection to ensure everything is running properly.
