Causes: Philanthropy, Private Independent Foundations

Mission: Our mission is to aid the children and families of the Ulaanchuluut garbage dump in the coldest and most air polluted capital city in the world, Ulaanbaatar Mongolia. By taking long-term, synergistic four-pronged approach, our goal is to alleviate poverty and provide real opportunities for the children and families who currently subsist by scavenging in all weather at the garbage dump. Our initiatives are designed to complement one another and provide an integrated approach to the sustainable development of the Songin Khairhan and surrounding districts.

Results: There are currently no children under the age of 6 scavenging in the garbage dump. In 5 years of operation we have successfully graduated 253 children who all are currently receiving a primary school education. Families have been able to find and work full-time, elevating themselves from poverty.

Target demographics: marginalized children that scavenge the garbage dump

Direct beneficiaries per year: 900 children, 1600 families

Geographic areas served: Mongolia, Malaysia, India

Programs: education reforms such as kindergartens, school programs, camps
